Antique Green Glaze Confit Pot

€240.00
Sold

Antique hand-thrown terracotta pot dating back to the late 1800s, with a delightful iridescent green top glaze against the ochre surface and the makers thumb prints around the top edge tier as a decorative mark. This wonderfully unique confit pot with handles and robust body has an organic surface which has eroded beautifully over time and was originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines or olives in olive oil. This large rustic pot would be ideal as a vase for fresh flowers or as a truly unique decorative display piece.

Found in Taurisano

a small town in southern Salento.

Dimensions: H32cm x W25cm x D22cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
