Antique Hand Painted Ceremonial Bowl

€180.00
Sold

This rare piece of pottery with its hand painted abstract motif dates back to the 1800s and most likely from central Italy. This hand thrown antique bowl would have been originally utilised for offerings during religious ceremonies or used for containing holy water. It features a very unique design with a cross, numerical numbers and swirl pattern in shades of orange with abstract and linear patterns in shades of blue, set against the white base. The bowl is glazed inside and out, with hand painted emerald green stripes externally. This very collectable handmade piece would make a lovely addition to any home, especially when pared with the matching hand painted bowls as seen in the images.

Found in Lecce

the capital and baroque jewel of the Salento.

Dimensions: H5.5cm x W17cm x D17cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
