Antique Hand Painted Vase with Handles

€260.00

This rare and uniquely hand painted vase dates back to the late 1800s. The large antique vase originates from Grottaglie, the town in southern Puglia renowned for its ceramic craft and tradition. The charming hand thrown vasetto features a fluted opening with scalloped edge, gentle undulating handles, and decorative indents around the lower body. What makes this piece extra special is the whimsically hand painted design on both sides, in hues of sky blue and plum red set against the buttermilk cream base. The antique vase features that magical patina brought about authentically by years of daily use and the passing of time. This historical vessel would be the perfect piece to add some colour and pattern to any space, utilised as a vase for fresh or dried flowers or simply decorative. Add impact with the matching hand painted ceramics as seen in the images.

Found in Ostuni

the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as the la città bianca (or ‘white city’).

Dimensions: H20cm x W26cm x D24cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
