Antique Ivory Glaze Confit Pot

€165.00
Sold

An antique confit pot in an iridescent ivory glaze, with two handles and an elegant form. This pot was made in the early 1900s and was originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines, figs or olives in olive oil. This type of ivory ceramic is commonly called ‘robba bianca’ in southern Italy, and represents the finest kind of ‘ceramica rustica’, produced with a pewter glaze and is twice fired. Today it would be ideal as a vase for fresh flowers or as a decorative display piece.

Found in Lecce

the capital of the Salento famous for its baroque architecture.

Dimensions: H28.5cm x W20cm x D20cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
