Antique Rustic Half Glaze Vasetto 1

€270.00

An antique confit pot from the Puglia region with its elegant form and alluring rustic patina. This charming piece dates back to the late 1700s and was originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines, figs or olives in olive oil. The hand crafted vasetto with its two handles features a half glaze in a buttermilk hue that gives way to the raw clay at its base. This half glaze was a hygienic addition rather than decorative, so it could be easily wiped clean after use. It was also economical to partially glaze, as it was a less expensive technique used rather than glazing the entire vessel. The antique vase features that magical patina that only years of daily use and the passing of time can bring about authentically. Add some rustic southern Italian charm to your home or space with this farmhouse vessel, that would be ideal for fresh or dried flowers. Create an impactful display with the matching large vase and smaller vases from southern Italy, as seen in the images.

Found in Ostuni

the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as la città bianca (or ‘white city’).

Dimensions: H29cm x W22cm x D20cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen. To utilise as a vase, it is recommended to use a separate internal water vase or vials for live stems.
