A very charming hand painted plate dating back to the early 1800s. The antique plate originates from Grottaglie in southern Puglia, a town renowned for its ceramic craft and tradition. It would have been used during family meal times, perhaps as a side plate. The well loved piece features a delicate hand painted scallop design in a darker blue with a softer blue border that rims the edge of the plate, set against the milky white glaze. The small plate shows its characteristic signs of age with a wonderful patina, brought about authentically from years of daily use and the passing of time.
