Antique Speckled Green Confit Pot

€180.00

This antique confit pot with its beautiful form originates from the southern Italian region of Calabria. Dating back to the late 1800s, it was originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines, figs or olives in olive oil. Confit pots from the southern Italian region were usually hand painted with a tree of life motif, and this pot is particularly unique with its specks of pistachio green that can be seen around the body of the vessel. It features a buttermilk glaze and that magical patina that only daily use and the passing of time can authentically bring about. Today, this charming piece would make an ideal vase for fresh or dried flowers or simply as a decorative display piece. Add impact with the matching ceramic vessels as seen in the images.
