Antique Rustic Yellow Glaze Jug
Antique hand-thrown jug with a golden yellow glaze that renders it particularly unique. This rustic jug from the southern Italian region of Puglia dates back to the mid-1800s. Known as a ‘bucale’ in local dialect, the farmhouse pitcher would have been used for wine or water at meal times. It features a partial glaze in the yellow hue that reveals the raw clay at its base. The large jug also features that magical patina that can only be brought about authentically by years of daily use and the passing of time. Today it’s an ideal vessel for fresh or dried flowers or simply decorative, adding some country charm to any space.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H22cm x W17cm x D13cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen. To utilise as a vase, it is recommended to use a separate internal water vase or vials for live stems.
