This large antique ceramic planter is a characteristic example of plant pots from Grottaglie, a town in southern Puglia known for its age old ceramic craft. The hand thrown planter features an iridescent pistachio green glaze, sgraffito banding and a ridged edge (called ‘pizzolato’) around the rim, particular to the southern Pugliese town. Dating back to the early 1900s, these details give the plant pot its unique and charming aesthetic. The green glazed planter is unglazed internally and has a hole at the bottom for drainage. The large plant pot is a great size and would be ideal to add a splash of colour to any home or space. There are also matching plant pots available as seen in the images, which together would make an impactful display, both indoors or out.
