Large Antique Green Splatter Passata Bowl

€180.00
Sold

Passata Bowls, also known as 'limmi,' originate from Puglia and they take the form of rustic handmade bowls. This large passata bowl dates back to the early 1900s and was originally used to make tomato passata or to wash fruit and vegetables. The antique bowl features a charming, glazed interior of splattered pesto-hued green over a creamy base. This splatter effect was added to keep insects and flies away from the passata or food. This surface application of the Pugliese limmi was created by hand, meaning each is a unique piece with its own characterful pattern. The large bowl has aged beautifully, with the external clay unglazed and on display. The antique vessel is perfect to add some farmhouse charm to a kitchen or tables setting, or as a unique storage vessel. Add impact with the other farmhouse bowls as seen in the images.

Found in Lecce

the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.

Dimensions: H22cm x W42cm x D42cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
