This antique hand painted bowl with its unique design originates from central Italy and dates back to the early 1700s. The hand-thrown bowl was most likely used to serve a family at mealtimes. It features a wonderfully abstract design depicting nature at its centre in pistachio green, sea blue and soft brown set against a creamy glazed base, and the external bowl is glazed in a black hue. The well loved piece shows its characteristic signs of age with a wonderful patina brought about from the passing of time and years of daily use. This charming bowl would have taken pride of place in a family home and today would make a lovely addition to a table setting, as decorative display or a great centrepiece for fruit. Add impact with the matching farmhouse plates and bowls from southern Italy, as seen in the images.
