Large Antique Hand Painted Stripe Jug
A rare hand-thrown jug that dates back to the late 1800s. The antique jug originates from Grottaglie, a town in southern Puglia renowned for its ceramic craft and tradition. The charming jug used for wine or water at meal times, features the pinched spout common to pitchers from the southern Italian region. It also has hand painted stripes that border the spout and mid section, in hues of deep green pastel blue and ochre brown, as well as cascading ‘drops’ in pastel blue on the main body. The antique vessel features that magical patina brought about authentically by years of daily use and the passing of time. Today, it would be ideal as a vase for fresh flowers or as a decorative display piece, adding some farmhouse charm to any space. Add impact with the matching ceramics as seen in the images.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital if the Salento.
Dimensions: H25.5cm x W18cm x D15cm
