Sold

Antique hand-thrown confit pot dating back to the late 1800s, with a delightful mustard top glaze against the ochre surface. The glaze around the rims were applied to wipe clean as a more hygienic surface to the raw terracotta. This wonderfully rustic confit pot with unique handles has an organic surface which has eroded beautifully over time and was originally used for preserving foods such as anchovies, sardines or olives in olive oil. Today this large pot would be ideal as a vase for fresh flowers or as a truly unique decorative display piece.

Found in Taurisano

a small town in southern Salento.

Dimensions: H32cm x W34cm x D23cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
