Large Antique Rustic Stripe Jug

€215.00

An antique hand-thrown jug with the pinched spout and blue stripe that is a symbol of the Puglia region. The large jug with its classic Mediterranean style dates back to the mid 1800s and was originally used for serving wine at family mealtimes. The wonderfully rustic piece originates from Grottaglie, a town in southern Puglia known for its age-old ceramic craft and tradition. The charming piece features hand painted stripes in inky blue across the rim and body, set against a buttermilk glaze. The ceramic pitcher also comes with that well-loved patina that only years of daily use and the passing of time can authentically bring about. Today, this unique jug would be ideal as a vase for fresh flowers or as a decorative display piece adding some country charm to any home or space. Create an impactful display with matching farmhouse ceramics as seen in the images.

Found in Lecce

the capital and baroque jewel of the Salento.

Dimensions: H27cm x W18cm x D17cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen. To utilise as vases, it is recommended to use a separate internal water vase or vials for live stems.
