Large Vintage Hand Painted 'Zuppiera' with Lid

€245.00
Sold

A very elegant vintage ‘zuppiera’ or soup tureen originating from Puglia and dating back to the 1930s/40s. This stylish ceramic pot would have taken pride of place in family’s home and used during meal times. The graceful form of the zuppiera highlights the skill of the potter, and what makes it extra special is the ‘zuppiera’ comes with its original, intact lid. It features a stylised knob on the lid resembling an acorn and curved handles hand painted in ochre brown. Encircling the main vessel and lid edges are hand painted lines in soft cerulean blue offset by the creamy white base. Today it would make an ideal decorative display piece or storage vessel, adding some country charm to any kitchen or table setting. Create impact with the matching vase and plate as seen in the images.

Found in Lecce

the Baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.

Dimensions: H22cm x W28cm x D27cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
