Antique Hand Painted Pastel Floral Jug

€180.00
Sold

An antique hand-thrown jug from Puglia that is truly a one of a kind piece. The antique jug dates back to the late 1800s and originates from Grottaglie, a town famed for its age-old ceramic craft. Wine and water jugs from Puglia usually have the most extensive decorations, this one comes in a typical local shape with its pinched spout. What makes this antique vessel particularly unique is the hand painted floral motif in an abstract style. The jug features a wonderful colour combination of hand painted orange and yellow stripes, and different flower patterns in soft lilac and sky blue around the body. Today, this antique jug would be ideal as a vase for fresh flowers or as a decorative display piece, and can be teamed with the matching ceramics as seen in the images.

Found in Lecce

the capital and baroque jewel of the Salento.

Dimensions: H17cm x W16cm x D14cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
