These antique hand painted bowls with their distinctive sponge effect adornment are a rare find, especially being a matching pair. Dating back to the early 1900s from the southern Italian region of Calabria, the bowls feature an enchanting mix of colours - the emerald green, blue and pink set against a buttermilk glaze. The old terracotta pottery from southern regions of Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria, like these plates, have a charming handmade, rustic feel and were used primarily for everyday, domestic use. These antique bowls would make a lovely addition to any kitchen and home.

Found in Lecce

the capital of the Salento famous for its Baroque architecture.

Dimensions: Plate 1 & 2 H5cm x W22.5cm x D22.5cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen
