Set of x3 Vintage Hand Painted Vietri Plates
A set of x3 unique vintage semi-gloss majolica plates with a distinctive villa motif in turquoise green. This style of design, colour and form is typical of ceramics by M.A.C.S. (Manifattura Artistica Ceramica Salernitana) from Vietri - a small town on the Amalfi coast known for its age old ceramic tradition. In the 1930s it became part of the I.C.S. company in Vietri (Industria Ceramica Salernitana) under the Lithuanian entrepreneur Max Melamerson, whom together with his wife Flora Haag, made it a center of production for artistic ceramics frequented by the major talents from Germany and beyond. The unique design of these plates is most likely related to the work of Irene Kowaliska or Richard Dölker, who worked for I.C.S. during the 1930s. The vintage plates with their charming handmade decoration and slight scalloped edge, would make a lovely addition to any table, especially when pared with the matching plates as seen in the images.
