Antique Crème Glazed Vasetto

€145.00

An antique confit pot with a luminous buttermilk glaze, two handles and an elegant form. This vasetto was made in the late 1800s and was originally used for preserving foods such as figs or olives in olive oil. The antique pot originates from the Pugliese town of Grottaglie, well known for its age-old ceramic craft and tradition. This type of ivory ceramic is commonly called ‘robba bianca’ in southern Italy, and represents the finest kind of ‘ceramica rustica’, produced with a pewter glaze and is twice fired. It features that magical patina brought about authentically by the passing of time and years of daily use. Today, the antique vessel would be ideal as a small vase for flowers or simply decorative.
