Vintage 2-Handle Passata Bowl

€120.00
Sold

Passata Bowls, also known as 'limmi,' originate from Puglia and they take the form of rustic handmade bowls. This example from the first half of the 20th century was originally used to make tomato passata or to wash fruit and vegetables. It would have been in use up until the 1950s/60s after which industrialisation and mass production of goods made these domestic hand thrown bowls obsolete. This particular vessel is unique due to its 2 handles. The vintage bowl features a charming, glazed interior of splattered pistachio green over a yellow-hued base, leaving the external clay unglazed and on display. Since these limmi were made by hand, each is a unique piece with its own characterful pattern. The vintage bowl which has aged beautifully, is perfect to add some farmhouse charm to a kitchen and ready to be used as a fruit bowl.

Found in Lecce

the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.

Dimensions: H11cm x W31cm x D29cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
