XL Antique Farmhouse Plate

€180.00
Sold

A charming hand painted platter that is typical of Pugliese ceramics, with a minimalism that renders it quite ‘modern’ in design. Dating back to the 1800s, the XL platter features a hand painted pastel blue rim with narrow lines in a maroon brown. The old farmhouse pottery from Puglia, like this large platter, is thick and robust, and has a lovely handmade, rustic feel. It would have been primarily used for domestic use up until the mid 1900s, and specifically to serve a family during meal times, where they would eat off the same plate beginning with the father and ending with the children. The antique plate shows signs of its years of use and has developed a wonderful patina over time. This piece would make a lovely addition to the kitchen, especially when teamed with the matching plates as seen in the images. The large platter can be used as a decorative display piece to add some country charm or as a centrepiece on a table for fruit.

Found in Martina Franca

the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known for its baroque architecture.

Dimensions: H6.5cm x W39cm x D39cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
