A rare hand thrown jug with spectacular proportions and a sunflower yellow glaze. Dating back to the early 1900s, this extra large ceramic pitcher would have been used during ceremonies, and weddings in particular, where wine would have been served to the happy couple first and then its guests. The one of a kind jug features a rounded form with a scalloped sgraffito design around its body, and the imprint of the potter’s thumb can be seen at the base of the handle. The antique jug has that magical patina that only years of daily use and the passing of time can bring about authentically. Today, this beautiful vessel would make the perfect statement piece adding a pop of colour to any home or space, and can also be utilised as a vase for fresh flowers.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H36cm x W39cm x D37cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen. To utilise as vases, it is recommended to use a separate internal water vase or vials for live stems.
