This hand crafted antique bowl with an all-over green glaze is a rare piece dating back to the late 1800s. The rustic bowl originates from Grottaglie - a town in southern Puglia known for its ceramic craft and tradition. The small bowl would have been used for everyday, domestic use at family mealtimes, primarily as a side plate for olives or typical local products such as lampascioni (aromatic and slightly bitter edible bulbs similar to small onions). What makes this bowl unique, besides its iridescent glaze in a deep pistachio green and wonderful handmade shape, is that there are three matching bowls and one larger plate available, as seen in the images. This antique piece would make a lovely addition to any kitchen or table setting, injecting a pop of colour and some genuine farmhouse charm.
Found in Ostuni
the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as la città bianca (or ‘white city’).
Dimensions: H4cm x W19cm x D19cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
